Sarah also enjoys rollerblading, ice skating, water skiing, and occasionally goes cliff diving. She was a competitive figure skater for 3 years and was ranked 3rd in the New York Sate regional competition. She has taken 5 years of Tae Kwon Do and is active in physical fitness. Sarah is an only child and considers herself a workaholic. She attended high school at Professional Children's School in New York and graduated two years early with a 4.0

Sarah began her acting career at age 4 when she was discovered by an agent while eating in a local restaurant. Three weeks later she was on the set of her first film, An Invasion of Privacy. This chance discovery was to later boost her professional career which has lasted 18 of her 21 years of life. In addition to having been one of the two regular hostesses of the TV talk show, "Girl Talk," Sarah is a veteran of TV, film, and stage. She has appeared with Matthew Broderick and Eric Stoltz in The Widow Claire at the Circle in the Square, and had a feature film open in which she co-starred with Sally Kirkland and Robert Lupone. She has appeared on Spenser: For Hire, Love, Sidney, The David Letterman Show and The Regis Philbin Show. She has done over 100 commercials and is a Wilhelmina Model. She has also appeared in Crossbow which she filmed in France and Switzerland. Sarah played Molly in the original cast of Neil Simon's Jake's Women and young Jacqueline Bouvier in the award winning NBC mini-series A Woman Named Jackie. Sarah started to gain a small, but loyal, fanbase when she played the lead role of Sydney Rutledge in the teen soap opera, Swan's Crossing.

On February 24th 1993, Sarah Michelle began work on the set of All My Children. She was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 1994 and, although she lost, she was nominated again in 1995 and won in the Younger Leading Actress category. Although she had given the producers 6 months notice of her decision to leave the show, she made her decision public the day after the Emmy win. After 2 ý years, Sarah left the set of AMC and moved to California to seek new fame in films or TV.

In 1996, Sarah was picked as the lead of a new series called Buffy the Vampire Slayer based on the movie by the same name. Warner Brothers bought 13 episodes of the show, and although ratings of the pilot were the highest ever of any of the WB lineup, it ranked 100th out of 107 programs in the Nielson ratings. Warner Brothers renewed the show for another 22 episodes which will begin airing September 15th.

In June of 1997, Sarah finished shooting I Know What You Did Last Summer which stars her and Jenniffer Love Hewitt as teens that try to cover up a hit and run. It was released on October 17th and became number one that weekend, earning a profit in just two days. Shortly after filming IKWYDLS, Sarah flew down to Atlanta, GA to film Scream 2, which had the largest December opening of a film and made more money in it's first weekend than the other top 9 films combined.

Sarah next took a break from the horror genre to film Cruel Intentions and Simply Irresistible

On March 10, 1998, Sarah won a Blockbuster Entertainment Award in the Best Supporting Actress - Horror category for her role in I Know What You Did Last Summer.

On August 12th, 1999, Sarah signed a contract with Maybelline to become the first celebrity spokeswoman since Linda Carter in the late 70's, and can be seen in television and print advertising for the makeup company.

The new millennium has been very favorable to Sarah so far. In 2000, she won a few awards given out by the Teen Choice Awards and the MTV Movie awards.

2001 proved to be a great year for her personal and professional lives. First, she earned a nomination in the Best Performance by an Actress in a TV-Series - Drama category in the Golden Globe Awards. Then she became engaged to Freddie Prinze Jr. on her birthday in April. The Teen Choice Awards also honored Sarah that summer with an Extraordinary Achievement Award.

In 2002, Scooby Doo, the movie Sarah co-starred in with Freddie, Matt Lillard and Linda Cardellini, became a summer blockbuster earning a whopping $250 million worldwide. In June she co-hosted the MTV Movie Awards, which became the highest rated in the show's history. This year also marked the most memorable occasion in her personal life. On September 1, 2002, Sarah and Freddie exchanged their marriage vows in a private ceremony in Mexico. In October, Sarah was honored with a Woman of The Year Award by Glamour Magazine during their Annual Women of The Year Awards.

The year 2003 is a time for endings and new beginnings. Early this year, Sarah announced her decision not to re-new her Buffy contract. So, after seven highly acclaimed seasons, the show aired its series finale on May 20, 2003. From April to July, Sarah worked on Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed in Vancouver (Canada). On August 2nd, Sarah won the award for Choice TV Drama Actress at the 2003 Teen Choice Awards. The latter part of the year was very busy for Sarah. We saw her in August participate in Ford's 2003 Tied To The Cause Campaign by posing for an ad that features the limited-edition scarf for sale to benefit breast cancer awareness. Her breast cancer charity work continued with the Young Survival Coalition's 5th Anniversary gala, which she co-hosted and featured an auction. In November, Sarah visited the widlfire-ravaged San Bernardino County to share her blessings with the fire victims. She donated clothings and toys and met with residents along with the Red Cross. She also participated in the Jeans for Genes auction to benefit the National Hemophilia Foundation. On December 4th, Sarah was honored with the 2003 Divine Design's Women of Style Award for her "outstanding contributions to the world of design and her humanitarian efforts on behalf of persons with AIDS". Later that month, it was announced that Sarah had signed on to star in The Grudge, an American remake of the popular Japanese horror film (series), Ju-On.

From January to March 2004, Sarah stayed in Japan for the filming of her new project, The Grudge. She returned to the States for the premiere of Scooby Doo 2: Monster's Unleashed on March 19th. The sequel took the no. 1 spot in its opening weekend. Sarah also attended the UK premiere of SD2 on March 26th, much to the delight of her fans in that part of the world. March also marked her very first guest (voice) appearance on The Simpsons. Her episode, which garnered high ratings, aired on March 28th. In May, Sarah signed on to star in Southland Tales, a Richard Kelly project. Filming is scheduled to begin in the fall. July 24th was a 'historic' day to remember. Sarah made her first ever appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con 2004 to promote the now much anticipated film, The Grudge, which opens on October 22nd.

The year 2004 probably ranks as one of the most memorable periods in Sarah's professional life. THE GRUDGE surprised the industry with a $40 million top spot opening and held that position for two consecutive weeks. To date, the film has grossed over $178 million worldwide. As a part of the promotions, Sarah embarked on a world tour much to the delight of her fans. From Europe to Asia to the Middle East, Sarah greeted her audience with warmth and gratefulness. Also, a new project was announced this year; a thriller to be directed by acclaimed director, Asif Kapadia.

Sarah began 2005 with a trip to Austin, Texas for her new 'untitled' film with Kapadia for Rogue Pictures. In the summer, she completed the filming for her Richard Kelly project, Southland Tales. Two other projects were announced earlier in the year; the untitled Marc Klein comedy drama based on Melissa Bank's book, The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing, and Alice, an adaptation of the video game based on Willam Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.

2006 was an extremely busy year for Sarah. She filmed four movies in a single year. She started with a trip to Mexico in January for The Air I Breathe, then headed to Japan in February to film The Grudge 2. In the spring, she came back home to New York City to work on Suburban Girl (previously The Girls’ Guide to Hunting and Fishing) with Alec Baldwin and finally flew north to Vancouver to film Addicted (later re-titled Possession) with Lee Pace. Sarah also spent a few days in France, where she had the opportunity to climb the stairs of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes to attend the premiere of Southland Tales, which was part of the official competition. Sarah also indulged in her love for fashion when she attended four runway shows and several events during New York Fashion Week in September. The Grudge 2 took the #1 spot on opening weekend in October. Sarah finished the year in New York for reshoots of Suburban Girl. It was announced in December that Sarah would voice April O’Neil in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle animated movie.

Sarah attended two Oscar parties in 2007 with Lee Pace, her co-star in Possession: the Elton John party and the famous Vanity Fair party where a meeting with the son of Will Smith, one of her young fans, was arranged. In the Spring, TMNT opened to the #1 spot. She also attended the premieres for two of her movies in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival, Suburban Girl and The Air I Breathe. In 2007, Sarah became an ambassador for the charity CARE and visited their operations in Guatemala. She also attended the CARE annual conference in Washington, DC where she had the opportunity to meet with Hillary Clinton. At the beginning of the Summer, she made her way across the Atlantic to London, where she had the honor of opening the world famous Harrod’s sale. September saw her attending once again a few runway shows during New York Fashion Week. Southland Tales premiered in November at the AFI Film Festival in Hollywood and she attended the premiere and after-party with director Richard Kelly and co-star and friend Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

The Air I Breathe opened in a limited release in January 2008 and Sarah attended the premiere with co-stars Andy Garcia and Brandan Fraser in Hollywood. She promoted the movie on the Late Show with David Letterman and on Live With Regis And Kelly. In February, Sarah was the mystery celebrity in Vaseline’s Skin is Amazing campaign. She bared her skin for a portrait that was auctioned on Ebay by Vaseline. Proceeds of the auction benefitted the Coalition of Skin Diseases. In March, Sarah participated to the biggest event since the end of the show in 2003, the Paley Festival Buffy The Vampire Reunion, which brought back together on stage creator Joss Whedon and most of the main cast. It was announced in September that Sarah might be making her way back to TV. She was said to star and executive produce a show for cable channel HBO. ‘The Wonderful Maladys’  was ordered to Pilot and set to film early 2009. Sarah continued her work as a CARE ambassador by visiting South-Africa, Zanzibar and Tanzania. She also helped CARE celebrate the 1st anniversary of the Ivy Hotel in San Diego, CA.

In 2009, in continuity of her work for CARE, Sarah attended the West Coast premiere of ‘A Powerful Noise – Live’, a celebration of International Women’s Day. The pilot for The Wonderful Maladys was filmed in New York in May. 2009 also marks a big step in Sarah’s personal life: on September 19th, Freddie and Sarah welcomed a daughter, Charlotte Grace Prinze.
