Five million people watch her every week. She's the star
of the biggest show on the WB network. She's a camp hit with high-school
and college students across North America. Sarah Michelle Gellar is only
twenty-one, but she's already got five films, two soap operas, two theatre
credits, and a cult-hit television show to her credit. As Buffy the Vampire
Slayer, she has become an Internet icon and an example of the increasingly
popular portrayal of strong women on television. Bite Me! Sarah
Michelle Gellar and Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes a closer look at
the woman and the show.
Buffy fans thirst for details about Gellar's life.
This bio will answer their questions. It's filled with dozens of exclusive
photos, and original information on every aspect of Gellar's career, including
her first acting experience at the age of four; her award-winning role
on All My Children; her work in the box-office hits Scream 2
and I Know What You Did Last Summer, and, of course, her double-sided
persona as a high-school student by day and a vampire-slayer by night.
Bite Me! spotlights Sarah's role in Buffy
the Vampire Slayer and features entertaining commentary on each episode
of the show, as well as background information about the myths that have
influenced the storylines. It also includes short bios of the actors who
play the other characters in the series--Xander, Willow, Cordelia, and
Angel. Fan-oriented, Bite Me! also provides information about how
to join the best Buffy clubs and mailing lists, plus other information
about how to get into Buffy's latest act. A must-have for all Buffy and
Sarah Michelle Gellar fans.

After reading the initial manuscript for this book, I wrote up a fairly average review for it
and posted it on the site. A few months later when the final version came out
and I got my copy, I had to come back and revise my review. The manuscript, which contained just the text of the book,
doesn't come close to doing it justice. Although the book is more of a Buffy book than an SMG book,
it makes the perfect companion for the Sarah Michelle Gellar fan who's also a fan of Buffy.
The layout of the book is very nice. Although it's a paperback, it's oversized and printed on
high quality paper. It features an embossed cover with a great picture of Sarah and is bound
on the side so the spine won't be damaged from reading it. Something else that impressed me about it are the color photographs, which are also printed
on high quality paper. Instead of taking the easy way out and using the same Warner Brothers publicity photos
that you see in most articles, Nikki Stafford has used all of her resources to find photographs that the real fans can appreciate, most of which
I had never seen before and are exclusive to the book. It includes several candid photos of Sarah and the cast,
lots of pictures of the cast from the Buffy Posting Board Party, and even school yearbook photos of Sarah and David.
If you already know everything there is to know about Buffy, the book's still worth the price
for the pictures alone.
The text of the book is divided into eight sections and is fairly comprehensive for the basic fan. It has a 25-page biography of
Sarah and smaller bios for the rest of the cast. It's unofficial so there's not a whole lot of new information
in it if you're a big fan of Sara and the show, and you can probably find most of the info in it from the articles section and other various web sites.
The advantage of it comes in the fact that it's all compiled into one source, while it would probably take someone awhile to
find all the info by searching through Buffy sites. It contains a good
summary of Sarah's life so far, from birth to around the second season of Buffy.
After reading Bite Me!, I got the impression that it was geared slightly toward the Internet fan.
There's a 12 page section dealing with Buffy web sites and provides some of the best web sites for the show and the individual cast.
Other sections include a Buffy trivia quiz, a section on The Buffy Posting Board Party, and some really good episode guides for the first season.
Overall, a great book, although it's more of a Buffy book that focuses on Sarah, I think
you'll definitely find it's worth the price.
